Adranon (Adranone, West Sicily)

Two cities with the name Adranon are known on Sicily.
The city described here is the city on West Sicily, between Entella and Selinunte.

At Monte Adrone (1000 m) the ancient city of Adranon was situated.
Excavations were begun in 1968. Tombs of the 5C and 4C BC, walls, acropolis.
6C BC     Indigenous settlement occupied by a Greek city, probably founded by Selinunte.
end 5C BC Destroyed by Carthage.
263 BC    Carthaginian settlement conquered by Rome. Site abandoned.
